Inversity Consulting Engineers is a Consulting Engineering Firm specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems design. Position: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Midlothian, Virginia
Experience
- 2-5 years minimum of mechanical and plumbing engineering design experience with large and small scale institutional or commercial projects from schematic design through construction administration.
- A four-year mechanical engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
- EIT is preferred. PE is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop drawings and specifications for HVAC and plumbing systems for institutional and commercial facilities (new buildings and renovations). Perform all design tasks and calculations required to support drawing development.
- Review and comment on mechanical/plumbing construction submittals, shop drawings and record drawings for compliance with contract requirements.
- Visit construction sites to review the work of contractors for compliance with all drawings and specifications.
- Interact/coordinate with Architects, facility owners, colleagues, contractors, and other project stakeholders to provide excellent service to our clients.
- Serve as the firm’s lead mechanical and plumbing designer on designated projects.
Required Skills and Software Proficiencies
- A general understanding of HVAC and plumbing system construction practices.
- Good working knowledge of the International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, and applicable Virginia Construction Codes.
- Working knowledge of codes and standards such as SMACNA, IMC, IECC, ASHRAE.
- Good working knowledge of Autodesk design software including AutoCad and REVIT.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and desire to learn basics skills needed in other disciplines (electrical) to support the firm when needs arise.
- Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within multi-discipline Architectural and Engineering project teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to provide strict attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment with minimal oversight.
- Possess a positive, can-do attitude and is self-motivated to seek personal growth.
