Position: Electrical Designer
Location: Midlothian, Virginia
Experience
- A two-year electrical engineering technology degree is a plus, but not required.
- 4 or more years of experience in the electrical construction industry with design-build experience.
- Highly motivated Journeyman/Master Electricians with some design experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of an engineer, perform electrical calculations, designs, layouts and specifications of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and communication systems.
- Review and comment on electrical construction submittals, shop drawings and record drawings for compliance with contract requirements.
- Visit construction sites to review the work of contractors for compliance with all drawings and specifications.
- Interact/coordinate with Architects, facility owners, colleagues, contractors, and other project stakeholders to provide excellent service to our clients.
Required Skills and Software Proficiencies
- Good working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and all applicable Virginia Construction Codes.
- Basic working knowledge and ability to learn Autodesk design suite software including AutoCad and REVIT.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and desire to learn basics skills needed in other disciplines (mechanical/plumbing) to support the firm when needs arise.
- Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within multi-discipline Architectural and Engineering project teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to provide strict attention to detail.
- Possess a positive, can-do attitude and is self-motivated to seek personal growth.
