The Highland Inn, an approximately 10,800 SF, 3-story hotel located in Monterery, VA, includes offices, restrooms, a restaurant, commercial kitchen, tavern, a couple of guest rooms on the first floor, and the second and third floors which are primarily filled with guest rooms. This Inn was opened in 1904 and is on the historical registry. Inversity has been hired to provide branch circuitry including any new panelbaords that may be necessary to serve new HVAC equipment, provide new lighting and GFI outlets in the renovated bathrooms, provide new lighting and outlets in other areas as required, and modify and/or upgrade the existing fire alarm system to coordinate with the architectural enhancements that will add to the Inn’s appeal moving forward.
This project is funded through a $600,000 grant that the Inn has already received, and more work may be added if the Inn receives another $200,000 grant. Proposed architectural renovations include removing the existing bathroom bumpout on the 2nd and 3rd floors, reworking and creating larger bathrooms for several of the guest rooms and the lobby, removing walls and reconfiguring space layouts to create suites including an ADA suite on the first floor, enlarging the dining deck, creating a new rear foyer, and alterations and repairs to other architectural elements such as handrails, painting, trimwork, siding, etc., as budget allows.
